IN DETAIL
ROKiT Venturi Racing narrowly missed out on a points-scoring result in the second leg of the London E-Prix amid a chaotic race at the ExCeL arena.
One day on from a P9 result in the UK capital, Monaco’s only racing team leapt back into action having made a handful of set-up changes to improve prospects on Sunday.
From Group 1, Edoardo Mortara qualified in P20 while team-mate Norman Nato lined-up on the grid in P13 after launching his classification efforts from Group 4.
A difficult start saw Norman slip down to P16 when the race got underway while Edo fell to P24 after stalling on the grid as a result of a technical issue.
Showcasing a fighting recovery drive, Norman quickly recovered to the top 10 until, with only three laps to go, the Frenchman was struck from the side by Jaguar’s Sam Bird.
This forced Norman to retire from a points-scoring position in the 13th race of the season.
Edo, meanwhile, continued his assault, and after sitting in last place at the end of lap 1, the Swiss-Italian fought forward to take P13 at the chequered flag.
A disqualification for Lucas di Grassi, in turn, promoted Edo up to P12, only two positions shy of points.

IN DETAIL
ROKiT Venturi Racing secured points in the face of a challenging day at the ExCeL arena as Formula E made a highly anticipated return to London.
As the World Championship’s newest track, the ExCeL circuit posed a fresh and unique challenge and naturally, data collection was the top priority over the course of practice.
With the circuit running both inside the arena and outdoors on its access roads, rainfall created challenging track conditions with a wet to dry crossover at the start and end of each lap.
In qualifying, Edoardo Mortara set the pace in Group 1 but due to improving conditions, started in P16 while from Group 4, Norman progressed to Super Pole for the third time this season, securing P6 on the grid.
At the start of the race, Norman maintained position but a promising getaway for Edo saw the Swiss-Italian advance to P15 before a Full Course Yellow paused proceedings.
By activating Attack Mode with 32 and 24-minutes + 1 lap of racing remaining, Edo fought forward to P12 in hot pursuit of a points finish with the top 10 within reaching distance.
After colliding with Sergio Sette Camara in Turn 16, Norman received a five-second time penalty and by reaching critical levels of energy management, fell down to P10.
On the final lap of the race, Norman was forced to retire after an overuse of energy while Edo took the chequered flag in P11.
Post-race, Nissan e.dams drivers Sebastien Buemi and Oliver Rowland were disqualified after exceeding the maximum amount of usable energy, promoting Edo up to P9 with two points on the board.

– Nyck de Vries climbed through the pack after starting ninth on the grid to finish second bringing Mercedes-EQ back into contention for the Teams’ title
– Pole-sitter Alex Lynn picked up a second career podium finishing third. After challenging Dennis for the lead, a lock-up caused the Mahindra Racing driver to lose time before being overtaken by de Vries
– Reigning champion António Félix da Costa of DS TECHEETAH finished eighth, closing the gap to within one point of Bird in the Drivers’ standings

BMW i Andretti Motorsport’s Maximilian Gunther wins ABB New York City E-Prix Round 10
FAST FACTS: 2021 ABB NEW YORK CITY E-PRIX (RD10)
– Maximilian Guenther pieced together a perfect race to take his third ABB FIA Formula E World Championship victory in the ABB New York City E-Prix Round 10, and on home soil for the BMW i Andretti Motorsport team ahead of Jean-Eric Vergne (DS TECHEETAH) and Lucas di Grassi (Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler)
– The 24-year-old German measured things maturely from fourth on the grid to pick his way into the lead as double champion Vergne forced his way by polesitter and long-time race leader Nick Cassidy (Envision Virgin Racing) at the hairpin with five minutes to go
– Guenther made his efficiency advantage count, with a percentage point of usable energy in-hand over Vergne meaning the Frenchman had to settle for second spot while Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler’s Lucas di Grassi clambered up the order from seventh to take the chequered flag third
– The result made it nine winners from 10 races to-date in Formula E’s inaugural campaign as an FIA World Championship, while 19 of the 24 drivers have climbed the podium steps in a super-competitive Season 7
– Robin Frijns’s fifth-place finish saw him draw level with Edo Mortara (ROKiT Venturi Racing) at the top of the Drivers’ standings after the Swiss-Italian’s non-score
– Vergne propelled himself into third in the table, and his result helped DS TECHEETAH take the Teams’ initiative ahead of Round 11 in The Big Apple tomorrow (July 11) from 1330 local time

A RACING RETURN & A WORLD PREMIERE: 2021 LONDON E-PRIX PREVIEW
ROKiT Venturi Racing looks ahead to the return of the London E-Prix
THE CIRCUIT
ExCeL London
Length // 2.252-kilometres

TIME TO EXCEL
As Season 7 of the FIA Formula E World Championship edges ever closer to its conclusion, this weekend the series heads to London to contest Rounds 12 and 13.
As the penultimate race weekend of the season, the 2021 London E-Prix marks the third to date and the first since 2016 as the UK capital makes a welcome return to the calendar.
By swapping the former host venue of Battersea Park for the ExCeL, the arena becomes Formula E’s newest track and the 2.252-kilometre long venue boasts a handful of firsts for the championship making it one of the most unique racing circuits in the world.
The undulating high-speed challenge is far from a typical street circuit, however, and in a first for motorsport, we will race both indoors and outdoors on the same track. Alongside using the ExCeL’s access roads, the track will take drivers into the interior of the ExCeL itself which will be the site of the start/finish straight for the coming weekend.
Featuring 22 corners, the circuit is not only the most complex on the Season 7 calendar but also the most technical in the history of Formula E, with no other track featuring this number of turns.
As the championship fight goes down to the wire this weekend, all eyes will be on the Royal Docks area of the city and expectations are high as we race on the highly anticipated ExCeL London circuit for the first time.

IN DETAIL
ROKiT Venturi Racing’s Norman Nato secured six points from a hard-fought New York City E-Prix, taking P7 in the second leg of the Brooklyn double-header.
Changeable weather cast an air of unpredictability around qualifying for the 11th round of the season, and while Norman took P10, team-mate Edoardo Mortara was P14 from Group 1.
A difficult start for Norman relegated the Frenchman down to P13 by the end of lap 1, but with a calm and calculating approach, he quickly fought forward.
By overtaking René Rast, Alex Lynn and Sebastien Buemi, the 29-year-old ascended to P10, locked in a closely contested fight for points in a competitive field.
Amidst an action-packed final lap, Norman remained in complete control and ascended to P8 by overtaking Mitch Evans and Sergio Sette Camara on the run to the chequered flag.
A 10-second time penalty for Lucas di Grassi, in turn, promoted Norman to P7 – a result that marks the Frenchman’s second points finish of the season so far.
Edo meanwhile took P17 at the flag after recovering from an early incident with BMW’s Jake Dennis when fighting for P13.

IN DETAIL
ROKiT Venturi Racing experienced a challenging yet promising opening race in the double-header New York City E-Prix as the Monegasque marque returned to The Big Apple for the first time since 2019.
Facing a disrupted practice programme as a result of a shortened FP1, the team showed promising pace in FP2 prior to qualifying for the first event of the weekend.
In a difficult session, Norman Nato took P19 while team-mate Edoardo Mortara lined up in P23 after being unable to use full power in his one-shot run from Group 1.
From rows 10 and 12 on the grid, the French and Swiss-Italian pairing adopted a conservative strategy from the outset by underconsuming energy to extend long-term battery life.
With this approach, Norman carefully worked his way through the field to run as high as P12 – setting the fastest lap en route – before falling to P15 after getting forced offline in the right-hand hairpin of Turn 10.
Edo meanwhile continued to play the strategy game and ascended to P14, gaining nine positions to front a 14-15 result for ROKiT Venturi Racing at the chequered flag.
FORMULA E UNVEILS RECORD-BREAKING 16-RACE SEASON 8 CALENDAR
Formula E to race in Cape Town, Vancouver and Seoul in 2021/22 season
On the eve of the New York City E-Prix, the FIA Formula E World Championship has revealed a provisional calendar for the 2021/22 campaign, featuring a record-breaking 16 races.
Visiting 12 cities across five continents, Season 8 will be the final tour of the series’ current Gen2 package ahead of its switch to the Gen3 rule-set in Season 9.
Commencing in Diriyah on January 28, 2022, a now familiar location for the Championship opener, the 2022 season will be Formula E’s longest to date and sees the return of some familiar destinations including Mexico City, Rome, Berlin, New York, London, and ROKiT Venturi Racing’s home race on the streets of Monaco.
New to the Formula E urban street racing line-up is Cape Town on February 26th and Vancouver making its calendar debut as the host city for Round 10 on July 2, 2022.
Season 8 will conclude in Seoul, South Korea on August 13 and 14, 2022, another location first for the championship, with a pair of races around the Jasmil Sports Complex – the site of the 1988 Summer Olympic Games.
CAPE TOWN, VANCOUVER, AND SEOUL FEATURE ON MOST EXPANSIVE FORMULA E CALENDAR YET
– FIA World Motorsport Council approves provisional ABB FIA Formula E World Championship 2021/22 calendar
– 16-race season set to be record breaker for all-electric FIA World Championship
– Cape Town and Vancouver welcomed as new venues, along with double-header season finale in Seoul
– Monaco to become annual event for first ever time
– Provisional calendar features 12 leading cities spanning four continents
Monaco, July 8, 2021 – Formula E and the FIA have today published the provisional calendar for the 2021/22 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, featuring three new locations as part of a record sixteen-race season spanning 12 cities across four continents.
The calendar was ratified following the day’s earlier FIA World Motor Sport Council in Monaco, confirming the busiest season yet of electric racing.
Getting underway in late January, the season opener will once again take place under the stars of Diriyah following the success of last season’s inaugural night race. The Formula E grid will then head to Mexico City before visiting the first of three new cities with South Africa’s Cape Town – returning single-seater FIA World Championship racing to the country for the first time since the 1993 South African Grand Prix.
China then makes a welcome return to the Formula E calendar in March 2022 before events in Rome and Monaco, with the race in the Principality moving from a biannual event to an annual event following May’s hugely successful E-Prix and the accommodation of the Automobile Club de Monaco.
Berlin, the only city to have featured in every season, takes its familiar place on the calendar in May followed shortly after by the second new venue with Vancouver.
Racing then heads to the Big Apple for a series of double headers beginning with the New York City E-Prix, before two races at London’s ExCeL and a climatic double-header season-finale in Seoul utilising a circuit incorporating the Olympic Stadium.
After two consecutive years of absence due to the global pandemic, Formula E plans a return of the Parisian race in 2023 for the arrival of Formula E’s Gen3 cars. The Paris E-Prix will move to a biannual event format, adapted to provide a new balance for the championship’s calendar. Each year of racing will see Paris welcome the Allianz E-Village, the electric mobility celebration and laboratory of innovative ideas promoting clean mobilities.

FORMULA E SIGNIFICANTLY GROWS LIVE RACE AUDIENCE IN KEY MARKETS AFTER ONLY HALF OF THE CURRENT SEASON
– ABB FIA Formula E World Championship enjoys uplift of 125% in live race viewership in key markets including UK, Germany, France, Italy and Brazil compared to the whole of the previous season
– Increase bolstered thanks to new and improved media partnerships in Germany, France, Italy and Brazil
– Globally live audience already just shy of surpassing entire live audience from season six
– Strong broadcast footprint lays foundations for continued long-term growth
London, England (July 7, 2021) – The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship has accelerated its audience growth and position as one of the fastest growing sports after broadcast figures revealed a substantial uplift in its live race day viewers across key markets.
Despite continued challenges due to the ongoing pandemic, Formula E is enjoying one of its most competitive seasons so far with eight different winners from the first nine races.
Helped by this on-track action and an improved media distribution framework, initial data for the first seven races of the campaign shows the all-electric series recording significantly higher live cumulative audiences in key markets – an uplift of 125% – compared to the figures for the entirety of the previous season. Over 150 million cumulative viewers have tuned to watch coverage of the opening races of the sport’s first FIA World Championship season.
New media partnerships in Germany with Seven. One, France’s L’Equipe, Sky Sports Italia (together with existing media partner Mediaset) and TV Cultura and GloboTV in Brazil, have all delivered significant increases in cumulative audiences, already surpassing those recorded in season six after just half a season.
Formula E’s audience has been further bolstered by free-to-air partnerships in local race markets, including Saudi Arabia and Mexico, and strategic collaborations with premium sports broadcasters like CBS in the US, Star India and Disney+Hotstar in India, SuperSport in South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa amongst others.
The next Formula E event takes place in New York City with rounds 10 and 11 on July 10 and 11. For more information on Formula E visit www.FIAFormulaE.com

START SPREADING THE NEWS: 2021 NEW YORK CITY E-PRIX PREVIEW
Drivers’ Championship leaders, ROKiT Venturi Racing, ready to take a bite out of The Big Apple
ELECTRIFYING THE CONCRETE JUNGLE
After first appearing on the calendar in 2017, ROKiT Venturi Racing returns to New York City this weekend to contest Rounds 10 and 11 of the FIA Formula E World Championship.
With the Statue of Liberty and Manhattan serving as our backdrop, the Brooklyn Street Circuit is the perfect showcase for Formula E’s urban street racing and has become one of the most iconic venues in the sport – loved by fans and teams alike.
Snaking around Brooklyn’s Red Hook district, 13 corners form the 2.374-kilometre arena which is the second-shortest track on the Season 7 calendar.
From Seasons 3-5, New York City has been the home of action-packed wheel-to-wheel racing and, following a 12-month absence – and off the back of a stunning victory in Puebla, we’re looking forward to returning to The City That Never Sleeps this weekend.
IN THEIR WORDS Susie Wolff, ROKiT Venturi Racing Team Principal
“With only three race weekends remaining, the season is edging closer to its conclusion and with Edo leading the Driver’s Championship, the stakes are higher than ever for us. Whilst Puebla was a good weekend for Edo and a great morale boost for the team to see our hard work paying off, we still have plenty of work to do. We’re going into New York strong but as we’ve seen in Formula E, anything can happen during a race weekend. Historically the Brooklyn Street Circuit has produced some fantastic racing action and I’m confident that this weekend’s double-header won’t be the exception.”
Edoardo Mortara
“Following on from my double podium and win in Puebla, I can’t wait to get back out on the track in New York City this weekend. The Brooklyn Street Circuit is a track that I enjoy and it has a good mixture of corner types which can be good for overtaking. As the championship leader, we expect tough races starting from Group 1 in qualifying so performing well will be crucial to setting up my weekend, especially in Race 1. As a team, our confidence and motivation has never been higher which is an advantage heading into the final races of the season.”
Norman Nato
“Another race weekend means another new track for me as a rookie, and I’m very excited to race in New York City for the first time. After driving the circuit on the simulator, I quite like the track on the whole and it has a nice mix of low, medium, high-speed corners. Turns 1, 6 and 10 will be key overtaking opportunities in the race and Turn 14 will also be really exciting, especially in qualifying because it requires you to attack with a lot of commitment to maximise lap time. As soon as practice gets underway, I’ll be pushing from the outset and the goal for me is to be fighting with the front runners.”
ABB FURTHER EXPANDS FORMULA E COMMITMENT TO BECOME TITLE PARTNER FOR 2021 ABB NEW YORK CITY E-PRIX
– Official FIA championship title partner to have naming rights of first race event
– ABB New York City E-Prix to take place in Brooklyn on July 10 and 11
– Double-header event to welcome return of spectators
New York, United States (July 2, 2021) – ABB, global technology leader and official title partner of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, is to further strengthen its long-standing commitment to the all-electric series by becoming the race title partner for the New York City E-Prix on July 10 and 11.
ABB joined the series in January 2018 in a ground-breaking collaboration, which made it the first title partner of an FIA-sanctioned single-seater championship.
Located at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal in the heart of the Red Hook neighbourhood, the event has become a staple on the championship calendar since 2017 and a firm favourite with teams, drivers and fans alike.
In 2019, it famously closed out season five where Jean-Eric Vergne made history to become the first ever double ABB FIA Formula E champion.
